Influenced by Fela Kuti, Tony Allen, Femi Kuti, Hugh Masekela. Fela Kuyo was raised in the shadow of the University of Ibadan, the eldest of six siblings who became a parent at fourteen when his activist father was silenced. His only inheritance was his father's political library and an old saxophone, which he taught himself to play by listening to Fela Kuti records. Today, he still lives in his hometown, his sprawling Afrobeat epics telling the story of a man who carries the weight of his family, his history, and his nation in every note he plays.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The condensation on a Star Radler bottle
Mirrors the Lekki bridge lights, all wobbly and hollow.
He watches you from the bar, Mr. Commissioner.
The boy who shared his gari, now a silent parishioner.

[Chorus]
Same foundation, but the crack runs deep now.
Two pillars in one compound, a promise you can't keep now.
Counting the cost of the blueprint you sold.
A story in concrete, growing colder and cold.

[Verse 2]
Back in '03, under the University's jacaranda tree,
You said, "Brother, we go build this country, you and me."
Now your suit is sharp, your handshake is a cage,
And your laughter doesn't reach your own history's page.

[Chorus]
Same foundation, but the crack runs deep now.
Two pillars in one compound, a promise you can't keep now.
Counting the cost of the blueprint you sold.
A story in concrete, growing colder and cold.

[Bridge]
One man. Two men.
One plan. What then?
Counting the contracts. Counting the silence.
Counting the space between loyalty and violence.

[Outro]
And the surveyor's ghost just shakes his head slow.
Another line drawn where a good thing used to grow.
