Influenced by Joe Hisaishi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Ólafur Arnalds, Bon Iver. Ren Okada was raised between two worlds: the stoic geology of the Colorado Rockies with his American father, and the delicate art of kintsugi with his Japanese mother, who taught him that breakage isn't an end. After a panic disorder forced him to drop out of Berklee College of Music, he returned to Denver, where he writes cinematic future-bass in his small apartment to pay off his student loans from a degree he never finished. His music is for anyone who has ever felt more at home with mountains than with people, finding beauty in what's been broken.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The Toshiba landline clicked off at 3:47 a.m.
Plastic's cool against my jaw, a perfect vacuum then.
Felt the floorboards settle, the whole Front Range went still.
The air got thin above this quiet windowsill.

[Chorus]
Oh, silence, let the pressure fall
(Let the pressure fall)
I'm at a new altitude now
(New altitude now)

[Verse 2]
The low-hum of the furnace kicks, a C-sharp in the dark.
You said, "the Flatirons look like broken teeth from this park."
Traced the sediment layer on the coffee cup's cold rim.
Didn't know that fissure ran right through the fragile brim.

[Chorus]
Oh, silence, let the pressure fall
(Let the pressure fall)
I'm at a new altitude now
(New altitude now)

[Bridge]
The seismic shimmer fades into the grain.
No gold to fill this crack against the rain.

[Outro]
The line is dead. The mountain holds its peace.
A slow release.
