Influenced by Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Toots & The Maytals. Robert Markel learned his first chords on a beat-up guitar in a Trench Town yard, taught by the same hands that his mother, Deloris, worked to the bone at two jobs to support him. He became a mason to pay the bills, learning to build walls that were straight and true, a philosophy he pours into his roots reggae anthems. The songs are for his community, for the struggle, and for the one promise he still hasn't kept: to build his mother a house where she can finally rest.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
That line on my knuckle come from a zinc fence off Spanish Town Road.
Was a Tuesday night, '09, watchin' how your waistline load.
Di bassline from the speaker box did shake the concrete yard,
And the edge of that sharp metal felt like a promise held too hard.

[Chorus]
And this scar, just a blueprint fade
For a house of a life we never made.
Just a one-drop memory, playin' on delay,
Di foundation gone, but di feeling, it stay.

[Verse 2]
Mama see the blood next morning, "'A wah do yuh hand?' she sigh."
I just seh "work," couldn't tell her 'bout the light I see in your eye.
Now, some walls stand tall and true, some mortar turn to dust,
And that hope I build inside me start to show a little rust.

[Chorus]
And this scar, just a blueprint fade
For a house of a life we never made.
Just a one-drop memory, playin' on delay,
Di foundation gone, but di feeling, it stay.

[Bridge]
Mi try set mi soul straight, find di spirit level,
But di bubble just tremble, sittin' on di bevel.
Is this feeling just a ghost I keep on payroll?

[Outro]
Yeah, di foundation gone...
But di feelin' it stay...

(PAUSE)

[Coda]
Just a hairline crack... 'pon my hand.
