Lyrics
This old Marshalltown trowel slip pon a Tuesday...
Left a likkle white river 'cross mi knuckle.
Is a funny thing, mi callin' yuh so late...
Just pass two, and di bedroom fan just a buckle.
Mi trace it now. It smooth like a river stone.
[Chorus]
This plumb-line scar, it nuh fade at all...
Just a thin chalk-road back to Deloris pon di wall.
[Verse 2]
"Robert," she say, "yuh hands buildin' firm..."
While she rub di rough spot wid di aloe from di yard.
Mi... mi just remember how she look, tired but straight.
Straight like a wall before di render get hard.
[Chorus]
This plumb-line scar, it nuh fade at all...
Just her voice sayin' 'build it true, son' through di squall.
[Bridge]
Every block mi set, mi feel it pull right here.
A spirit level for di hope and for di fear.
[Chorus]
This plumb-line scar, it nuh fade at all...
Is di first foundation stone for Deloris' new hall.
[Outro]
Anyway... mi gone.
Just... just did haffi call.
