Star Singer vs Yuna

Tested by us on October 16, 2026 on a Pixel 6 Pro with the Google Play (US) versions of both apps, real purchases, the same photo and the same brief. Prices change; check the app before you buy.

Short answer

Yuna held the face from the photo better than Star Singer did, and it kept the photo's outfit. Star Singer writes and sings the song as well, renders at 1080x1920, and charges once: $19.99 for a full video, with no subscription. Yuna's first video in our test was a 30-second 704x1280 clip on a $6.99 weekly subscription.

What happened in Yuna

A 7-screen onboarding quiz, then a photo, then a free "selfie to superstar" teaser shown blurred, then a store-rating prompt, then a paywall ($6.99 or $9.99 weekly, $299.99 yearly). Dismissing it gave 500 free credits. A 30-second HD video costs 3,000 credits (a draft is 1,500), so we took the $6.99 weekly plan (6,000 credits). The video was ready in about 8 minutes.

Where each one is better

Where Yuna is better

  • Likeness. Yuna kept the face from the photo, and even the outfit, better than Star Singer did. In our video the face drifted between shots.
  • It followed the brief, in a short 30-second clip that was ready in about 8 minutes.
  • A cheaper first week if you only want short clips: $6.99 covered two 30-second HD videos in our test (the plan renews weekly until cancelled).

Where Star Singer is better

  • One-time price. No subscription, no weekly renewal and no credits to top up: the clip is $5.99 and the full video is $19.99.
  • Song and video in one place. Star Singer wrote and sang the song (lyrics editable for free first, and the song sang the recipient's name), then made the video from it.
  • Full HD output. Both our clip and our full video came out at 1080x1920.
  • Karaoke lyrics timed to the vocal are part of the video.
  • A free storyboard before you pay: the concept and a few stills, with a button to ask for a different idea.
  • The full song, not only 30 seconds: our full music video covers the whole track.

Who should pick which

Star Singer

Pick Star Singer if you need the song written and sung for you, want the whole song as a 1080p video, and prefer a one-time price to a weekly plan.
