the last promise

I remember the day I saw your face
Two hearts meeting in a crowded place
You took my hand and said you'd stay
But life took you so far away

I waited through the lonely nights
Holding on to memories
Even when the road was dark
I believed you'd come back to me

You made a promise, I never forgot
Through every tear, through every loss
If love is true, it finds its way
Back to the heart it couldn't replace

You made a promise, and here you are
After two years, after being apart
No matter how far we had to go
My heart still knew you'd come back home

They told me that you had moved on
I cried alone until the dawn
But deep inside I knew somehow
That our story wasn't over now

Maybe we were lost
Maybe we were blind
But love was waiting
At the end of time

You made a promise, I never forgot
Through every tear, through every loss
Now you're standing here with me
And finally, we're where we're meant to be

Don't leave again
Stay with me
You made a promise
And now I believe
