Influenced by Kygo, Bob Sinclar, Felix Jaehn, Bonobo. Charleston's Zane Meridian makes music for the space between headphones. A childhood illness left him completely deaf in his left ear, a reality he explores through asymmetric sound design and deep-house grooves built around his primary instrument, the steel pan. He spent his youth absorbing the Gullah rhythms of the South Carolina Sea Islands and the vibrations of his father’s calypso records, translating a one-sided sensory world into enveloping tropical lounge. His songs are an invitation to find the focus in imbalance, a sound both intimate and as wide as the Lowcountry horizon.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
(a cappella)
Hey. Uh. Don't pick up. Just rehearsing.

(Instruments enter: dry, narrow mono mix)
Your half-braid sweetgrass basket's on the floor.
Smells like the Market, still. Before the storm.
I'm mapping out the quiet in this room,
The mono version of an afternoon.

[Chorus]
(Mix opens to wide stereo, lush reverb)
And I practice your leaving like a hymn
Out on the intertidal, where the light gets thin.
Just brackish air and what the water claims,
Trying to forget I know your other names.

[Verse 2]
(Mix returns to dry, narrow mono)
It's three-thirteen, a Tuesday. Heat's a weight.
Remember Grandma said, "Saltwater cure the ache"?
Well, I'm just breathing in the pluff mud scent,
Wondering where all that good intention went.

[Chorus]
(Mix opens to wide stereo, lush reverb)
And I practice your leaving like a hymn
Out on the intertidal, where the light gets thin.
Just brackish air and what the water claims,
Trying to forget I know your other names.

[Bridge]
(Instrumentation sparsens, remains wide stereo)
This isn't erosion.
This is just the tide.
A conversation heard from just one side.

[Outro]
(Music fades to just a single acoustic guitar line)
Anyway. Delete this when you...
(sound of a phone call ending abruptly)
