Lyrics
I remember the salt-scour on your bare feet
The seven o'clock chime from the steeple on Church Street
You threw in a penny, still warm from your thumb
Waited for the resonance to go numb
[Chorus]
The water still falls with a mono sound
One side is the memory, one is the now
One side is the silt, one is the perfume
[Verse 2]
Tonight you came back in a car that purred low
That French name on your wrist wasn't there a year ago
"It's just copper," you said, about the wishes I hold
Your voice felt balanced, perfect, and cold
[Bridge]
The tide on the Cooper keeps pulling it all loose
Een standin on solid ground, de Lawd kin move
[Outro]
...the perfume
...the perfume
