Influenced by Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé, Wizkid, The xx. Kobi Flux grew up in Lagos between his father's engineering blueprints and his mother's market textiles. He won a scholarship to study music in London, but dropped out after a professor called his Afrobeats sound 'unrefined,' a moment that still haunts him. Now back in Lekki, he pays his bills with freelance design work and spends his nights crafting melodic, late-night anthems on a secondhand keyboard, turning his imposter syndrome into a sound that is entirely his own.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
NEPA take light for the tenth time this week
We watch the Eko Atlantic blueprint on a cracked screen
The air taste of salt and diesel from the dredger
Building a paradise we no go ever measure
Their concrete columns block the harmattan haze
We just trace the new shadows, count the days.

[Chorus]
Omo, this na landlord notice
For the city wey we know, e don finish
But our own foundation, no fit break, no fit tarnish
This na our foundation, no fit break, no fit vanish.

[Verse 2]
See the cranes for sky, like metal birds of prey
Stealing the shoreline, stealing yesterday
My man for Ajah whisper, "Dem say rent go triple by December"
So we hold this moment, try to just remember
The heat from the suya stand on the pavement
Before e turn concierge and validation payment.

[Chorus]
Omo, this na landlord notice
For the city wey we know, e don finish
But our own foundation, no fit break, no fit tarnish
This na our foundation, no fit break, no fit vanish.

[Bridge]
My papa draw the floorplans, my mama dye the fabric
Wetin be blueprint when the pattern na magic?
They can build their glass house on reclaimed sand
But the real ground dey under the leg where we stand.

[Outro]
(Music strips to only voice and a single jangly guitar)
So make dem build their city…
We dey here… the generator still dey hum.
