Holmenkollen Pair

[Verse 1]
The Holmenkollen pair by the back door still,
Covered in the pitch from last April's chill.
The leather's all cracked and the left lace is frayed,
From a 90th-minute promise he made.

[Chorus]
She says, "Aksel, it is only a space on the floor."
Just an old pair of boots by the door.

[Verse 2]
I remember the smell, wet grass and cold steel,
He said this year's cup run was going to be real.
He drew out the tactics on a damp napkin square,
Left the ghost of his shape in that entryway chair.

[Chorus]
She says, "Aksel, it is only a space on the floor."
They don't belong there anymore.

[Bridge]
"I know. But the mud's from the Frogner pitch."
"I know, son. I just... I can't look at it."

[Outro]
Alright.
Just leave them for one more night.
