Brethren of the Static

[Verse 1]
The copper coil from Bishop Steiner's old Magnavox
We unwound it clean on a pile of cinder blocks
The second Tuesday after the July rains had passed
We etched the circuit board until the tracing held fast

[Chorus]
And when we send our voices out into the night
A new kind of prayer
A different holy light

[Verse 2]
The vacuum tubes you salvaged from the TV repair
Cast a nervous glow on the dust inside the air
The scent of rosin, burning delicate and low
"Solder slow," you said, "let the silver start to flow."

[Chorus]
And when we send our voices out into the night
A new kind of prayer
A different holy light

[Bridge]
We weren't building a weapon, we weren't making a boast
Just a taproot signal reaching for the coast

[Outro]
Just us. And the firmament. And the hiss.
