Influenced by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mad Season, Stone Temple Pilots, The Melvins. As the oldest of six in a West Virginia factory town, Lane Stayton had to parent his siblings while still a child himself. The resentment and fierce loyalty of that stolen youth fuels his music—a heavy, sludgy grunge built on down-tuned guitars and his own pained, double-tracked vocal harmonies. His songs, written on a beat-up acoustic in a small apartment overlooking the Ohio River, are raw dispatches from the heart of post-industrial America.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The Sylvania over the register hums at 3:47.
She’s looking through the glass like it’s a window pane from Genesis.
Her thumb scrolls on a cracked screen, a nervous little tic,
And her jaw goes slack, a fault line in the dead-quiet click.

[Chorus]
This is her communion, her kerosene amen.
Swallowing the light whole and then saying it again.

[Verse 2]
Heard her tell her brother once, "The river's just a dirty vein."
Now her eyes are fixed on something holy, washing out the acid rain.
The mop bucket by the cooler smells of bleach and wintergreen,
And for ninety seconds solid, she's the purest thing he's seen.

[Chorus]
This is her communion, her kerosene amen.
Swallowing the light whole and then saying it again.

[Bridge]
A hallelujah chorus for a god of static noise.
A quiet kind of worship, with no gesture and no sound.

[Chorus]
(Main Vocal) This is her communion, her kerosene amen.
(Countermelody) What do you see in it? Tell me what you see…
(Main Vocal) Swallowing the light whole and then saying it again.
(Countermelody) Is it really there? Tell me what you see in it…

[Outro]
The Sylvania hums. She breathes out slow.
