Influenced by Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Mad Season, Stone Temple Pilots, The Melvins. As the oldest of six in a West Virginia factory town, Lane Stayton had to parent his siblings while still a child himself. The resentment and fierce loyalty of that stolen youth fuels his music—a heavy, sludgy grunge built on down-tuned guitars and his own pained, double-tracked vocal harmonies. His songs, written on a beat-up acoustic in a small apartment overlooking the Ohio River, are raw dispatches from the heart of post-industrial America.

Lyrics

[Chorus]
This eyebar chain just groans a single note
A prayer held in a hundred thousand bolts
It sings a song of rust and gravity
For you and me

[Verse 1]
He said, "The K-Mart Santas on the lampposts look half-dead."
The radio static spittin' snow inside my head.
She said, "'Just get us over,' is all my mother said."
The Ohio wind is scrapin' at the paint again.

[Chorus]
This eyebar chain just groans a single note
A prayer held in a hundred thousand bolts
It sings a song of rust and gravity
For you and me

[Verse 2]
He said, "You feel that shudder through the Dodge's floorpan steel?"
The cold December air makes nothing feel quite real.
She said, "It's just the semis. Tell me what's the deal."
We'll be in Gallipolis for the eight o'clock reel.

[Chorus]
This eyebar chain just groans a single note
A prayer held in a hundred thousand bolts
It sings a song of rust and gravity
For you and me

[Bridge]
He said, "Up on the tower... you see those two red lights?"
She said, "It's just a warning beacon, baby. Hold me tight."

[Chorus]
This eyebar chain just GROANS a single note
A PRAYER held in a hundred thousand bolts
It SINGS a song of rust and gravity
For you and me

[Outro]
The water's black by five this time of year.
