Lyrics
The Wasatch Front is turning blue on your side of the screen.
It's 2 AM in Burlington, the window pane is freezing.
You hum a primary hymn, a tune I thought I'd lost for good.
I'm tracing the woodgrain with my thumb, just like you would.
[Chorus]
Your breathing is the only psalm I need to hear tonight,
A sermon in the static, a weak and holy light.
[Verse 2]
I think of Bishop Allen's yard, the lamb's ear, soft as felt,
You said "I think this right here is the only gospel I've ever felt."
A perennial confession growing through the concrete slow,
Just leave the phone beside you, darling, let me know.
[Chorus]
Your breathing is the only psalm I need to hear tonight,
A sermon in the static, a weak and holy light.
[Bridge]
A rhizome faith that runs unseen beneath the sleeping towns,
From this Green Mountain steeple to your temple grounds.
[Outro]
A sermon in the static...
A weak and holy light...
