Influenced by Kygo, Bob Sinclar, Felix Jaehn, Bonobo. Charleston's Zane Meridian makes music for the space between headphones. A childhood illness left him completely deaf in his left ear, a reality he explores through asymmetric sound design and deep-house grooves built around his primary instrument, the steel pan. He spent his youth absorbing the Gullah rhythms of the South Carolina Sea Islands and the vibrations of his father’s calypso records, translating a one-sided sensory world into enveloping tropical lounge. His songs are an invitation to find the focus in imbalance, a sound both intimate and as wide as the Lowcountry horizon.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The folding chairs at the John's Island hall are cold for May.
Seven o'clock, and the air tastes like rust from the window fan.
The static hum is louder on the right side, anyway.
Just watching all the mouths move, trying to understand the plan.

[Refrain 1]
Everything I hear comes in from the east.
A one-sided room getting ready for a one-sided feast.

[Verse 2]
My grandma whispers, "Dem nah lissen," and works her thumb across the weave.
The developer's shoes have a shine you can't get from a store.
He says the word 'progress' like it's something we all believe.
The pressure in the room is a slow tide rising off the floor.

[Refrain 2]
Everything they say comes in from the east.
The water's already turned, the sound has been released.

[Bridge]
And the pluff mud will still hold the shape of our feet for a little while.

[Outro]
The microphone gives a single, perfect note of feedback.
Just on the one side.
