Lyrics
The sugar cube in your absinthe dissolves too slow.
Pavement on the Boulevard Saint-Michel gives off heat from below.
The second of May, and the air is a held breath.
A police képi flashes in the window of a shop gone to death.
[Chorus]
Mise en Place.
Your face.
This space.
Before the break.
[Verse 2]
Your leather jacket smells of Gauloises and last night's rain.
A torn poster for Godard peels from a window pane.
"Ça va péter," you said, a smile right on the serrated edge.
The whole city, a stock just simmering on the ledge.
[Chorus]
Mise en Place.
Your face.
This space.
Before the break.
[Bridge]
The pressure cooks the silence in the room.
A flavor profile of imminent bloom, or doom.
[Outro]
Mise en Place.
This taste.
