the hudsons

[0:00-0:05 Hook, spoken]
Pour the tea, y'all... the Hudsons are comin' through.

[0:05-0:25 Verse 1]
Down a Texas road where the porch lights glow
Lives a good man that everybody knows
Never met a stranger, never turned one down
Hands wide open, the kindest man in town
He'll give you his last and he'll smile while he does
A cheerful giver, that's just who he is

[0:25-0:35 Pre-Chorus]
Sunday kitchen, chicken in the pan
Everybody gathers 'cause they know the plan
Say his name now...

[0:35-0:55 Chorus]
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Good man, big heart, givin' it away
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Sweet tea, Texas Pete, that's the Hudson way
Loved by the whole town, everybody knows
A cheerful giver wherever he goes
Chucky Hudson Jr.!

[0:55-1:15 Verse 2]
Mama Mary's got the table set right
Roy's in the doorway with a smile so bright
Sisters Lizzy and Nicole, sweet as can be
Pourin' that sweet tea for the whole family
Fried chicken crackling, Texas Pete on top
Once they start eatin', the laughin' don't stop

[1:15-1:35 Chorus]
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Good man, big heart, givin' it away
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Sweet tea, Texas Pete, that's the Hudson way
Loved by the whole town, everybody knows
A cheerful giver wherever he goes
Chucky Hudson Jr.!

[1:35-1:55 Bridge / Breakdown (claps and stomps only)]
Uncle Adam's laughin', Uncle David's too
A unique little family, and the love comes through
Movie night, lights low, popcorn on the floor
Bride of Chucky playin', he can watch it once more

[1:55-2:15 Final Chorus (key lift, gang vocals)]
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Good man, big heart, in' it away
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Sweet tea, Texas Pete, that's the Hudson way
Loved by the whole town, and the whole family too
A cheerful giver, through and through
Chucky Hudson Jr.!

[2:15-2:30 Outro (chant, fading)]
Chucky Hudson Jr.! Chucky Hudson Jr.!
Sweet tea for the win... that's the Hudson way.
