Texas of the North

[Verse 1]
Where the Rockies shoulder prairie, the Chinook cuts the cold,
From Calgary to Medicine Hat, the wide brown land rolls.
Fort Mac burns beneath the stars; rigs hum underground,
And every fence-line, foothill road says: we stand our ground.

[Chorus]
We’re the Texas of the North, with the wild west still alive,
Oil wells meet the cattle, and the prairie meets the sky.
Alberta strong, Alberta bold—we make our own way home.

[Verse 2]
Wheat waves past the highway trucks; ranch gates swing wide,
Pipelines run south, but nobody here keeps quiet to survive.
From old Edmonton to Fort McMurray, from the west range to the plains,
There’s black gold under open skies—and freedom in our veins.

[Bridge]
Maybe it’s the northern cold, or space that won’t be fenced,
Maybe it’s a stubborn heart that won’t ask for permission.
Raise a glass in Calgary; let Lethbridge hear it ring—
The cowboy stands on his own two hands, and answers to no king.

[Outro]
From Peace River to Cypress Hills, our fire still burns bright:
Texas of the North—Alberta, wide and free tonight.
