A Prayer For Plastic

[Verse 1]
The third drawer down, by the radiator's hiss.
You just stare at the plastic abyss.
A red lid for a box that went missing in March,
A single key to the Peugeot, left on its arch.

[Chorus]
And you say it like a prayer in the kitchen light,
This holy, holy mess is mine tonight.

[Verse 2]
The linoleum's cold through your socks, it's a quarter past three.
That one clip for the Croky crisps, feels like ministry.
You remember you said, "'It's just chaos,' and you laughed,"
Over the rim of a coffee mug, split down the shaft.

[Chorus]
And you say it like a prayer in the headlight glare,
This broken, holy order, I was there.

[Bridge]
These aren't walls with hairline cracks,
Just cheap containers with broken backs.
No load to bear, no foundation stone,
Just something you can't fix alone.

[Chorus]
And you scream it like a prayer at the coming dawn,
This holy, holy ruin goes on and on.

[Outro]
A single red lid.
Goes on and on.
