The Door I Closed

[Verse 1]
I learned to raise myself before I learned to dream,
Mom never wanted me; Dad chose everyone but me.
They played at being family, then silence filled the room—
When I reached out for help, there was nobody to turn to.

[Chorus]
I shut one door, convinced I had to go;
Now time shows me the life I’ll never know.
I let some chances slip right through my hands—
If I could choose again, I’d take another path.

[Verse 2]
Then you came, my little soul, my gift, my brand-new dawn;
Each morning had a different shape the day that you were born.
I wasn’t always strong; some nights I shook with fear—
But every time I fell, I stood because you were here.
When we faced an empty home, I gave all I had to give—
Just so you’d have a place to stay, a place to laugh and live.

[Bridge]
Three months falling, three months finding my feet,
I poured out all I had so you’d have somewhere safe to sleep.
No steady ground, no peace—but you were by my side;
You gave me one more reason to get up and stay alive.

[Chorus]
I shut one door; time opened up another;
Some things were lost, but we still have each other.
You’re my next page, the one I won’t erase—
My little, mighty strength, my reason to face each day.

[Outro]
Life took some dreams, but looking at you, I know:
One chapter ends; ours starts—and I won’t close this one.
