Influenced by James Blake, Mount Kimbie, Burial, Arthur Russell. Kofi Nowak was raised in a Holloway council flat between his Ghanaian mother's Twi phone calls and his Polish father's electrical blueprints. A former architectural technology student, he dropped out to apply the logic of structures to sound, building skeletal R&B songs about the signal loss of modern love. His music, made under the name Holloway Static, is the sound of being a ghost in your own gentrifying neighborhood, broadcast from a cheap upright piano in the early hours of the morning.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
That damp patch on the wall by the Seven Sisters Road,
You always said it looked like Ghana if you squinted so.
The last of your dad's Polish vinyl is in the boot,
You're mapping out a future I can't find the root for.
So don't start. You know this isn't what you wanted.
It's just the voltage drop between what is and what's fronted.

[Chorus]
And this is the accord, then. The Finsbury Park Accord.
No tension cable left between my floor and your floor.
Just the low-frequency hum of a promise we can't afford.

[Verse 2]
Remember racing bikes down to the Sobell Centre?
Who could brake the latest, be the prime contender?
I always let you win, I thought it'd keep you tethered here.
"You're holding back," you'd say, just loud enough for me to hear.
But the resonance has changed now, haven't you felt the shift?
This whole foundation's suffering from isostatic lift.

[Chorus]
And this is the accord, then. The Finsbury Park Accord.
No tension cable left between my floor and your floor.
Just the low-frequency hum of a promise we can't afford.

[Bridge]
All our load-bearing arguments are just dust in the air.
You were the cantilever beam, and I was the prayer.

[Outro]
The signal's gone. It's just static now.
Go on then. Go.
