Influenced by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Mel Tormé, Dean Martin, Julie London. Frank Senatra was supposed to design cars in Detroit. Instead, he had a son at 18, worked a factory line that shut down, and now pays his rent by repairing vintage watches in a small Corktown shop. He's a third-generation Sicilian-American from Hamtramck who sings the Great American Songbook as if the lyrics were blueprints for a life he's still trying to build. These are torch songs from a man who understands the mechanics of a broken heart and the pride of putting things back together.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The ironwork on the Belle Isle bandshell
Was peeling green that August '08.
The air so thick you could chew it, smelled of river and exhaust,
You put your cool hand on my neck and laughed against the freight.

[Chorus]
A gear-stripped summer in a busted town,
We wound the joy up tight and drowned the engine out.
That was our perfect timing, a beautiful design,
Your ironwork grin, a match for mine.

[Verse 2]
Took the boy there last Tuesday, through the rusted-out gate.
I pointed where we stood, let him touch the iron plate.
"It's cold," he said, and I just nodded, I know.
Some parts just hold a chill long after the sun's gone low.

[Chorus]
A gear-stripped summer in a busted town,
We wound the joy up tight and drowned the engine out.
That was our perfect timing, a beautiful design,
Your ironwork grin, a match for mine.

[Bridge]
You said, "They ain't tearing this down, not on our damn time."
A beautiful resistance, a nickel-and-dime
Kind of defiance, a mainspring wound to fight,
Holding all that pressure 'til the morning felt right.

(Music cuts out for 4 seconds of silence)

[Coda]
The ironwork's still peeling.

[Outro]
Still green.
