Influenced by BJ Burton, Bon Iver, Fennesz, Aphex Twin. Arden Kiln was raised between two houses in Eau Claire, Wisconsin: his mother’s downtown apartment and his father’s suburban rambler. His step-dad, a mechanic, taught him about engine seizure and hairline fractures—a language he now uses to write songs about love and signal loss. Armed with a sampler and a battered cassette recorder, he builds maximalist, distorted alt-pop from the sonic debris of his life, turning the anxious hum of the Upper Midwest into something arresting and beautiful.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The Chilton manual's open to page forty-three,
Smells like newsprint and engine grease from 1990.
My knuckles are bleeding a slow, steady seep,
Just trying to map the damn feedback loop.

[Chorus]
But this is just torque spec on a ghost, Lia,
A hairline fracture in the thing we loved most.
Forcing the timing, hoping the spark will catch,
A love with a bad ground and a broken latch.

[Verse 2]
It's been three weekends since the first hard freeze,
And the smell of my mom's phở is on the garage breeze.
My step-dad always said, "Check the ground wire first,"
But I'm reverse-engineering this whole beautiful curse.

[Chorus]
Yeah, this is just torque spec on a ghost, Lia,
A hairline fracture in the thing we loved most.
Forcing the timing, hoping the spark will catch,
A love with a bad ground and a broken latch.

[Bridge]
The socket wrench slips and I see your flinch in the light,
And for one goddamn second, I want to make this right.
I wanna hurl this piston straight through the drywall,
Just to feel the system fail, once and for all.

[Chorus]
(whispered, close-mic'd, cracking)
...torque spec on a ghost, Lia.
A hairline... in the thing we loved most.
Forcing the timing...
...a broken latch.

[Outro]
The hum of the ballast.
That's all.
