Duelo en Re Menor

It’s easy to say what I like,
For there are few things I hold dear:
Peace, joy that strikes me by surprise,
And seeing my own work succeed.

I hate the peace that fools destroy,
With proud contempt and empty lies;
They bless their greed and call it joy,
While never caring whom it harms.

I hate the fool who takes my work,
Then claims the credit I have earned;
She takes my money like a perk,
Then blames me for the mess she’s made.

I hate to give my all away,
To open up my home and heart,
Then watch a friend betray one day,
And drive a knife straight through my back.

I hate a justice built on lies,
By poisoned minds that twist the truth;
They forge their charges, then decide
That I must pay for their deceit.

They blame me for what never was,
They judge me for a crime they made;
They force me to pay the cost
Of deeds that never saw the light.

I see the truth behind their words,
I understand the games they play;
So I walk away from poisoned souls,
And leave their venom in their wake.

Yet I must live among them still,
With no hope they will ever change;
For those who make a home of lies
Will lie tomorrow just the same.
