Lyrics
(Voicemail beep)
I'm the kerf-cut cedar box on your apartment sill
The one your father made you when the world got still
You trace my seams some mornings when the sun is new
As if you're checking that the joint-work's holding true
[Chorus]
And the sawdust settled years ago
So I've decided just to glow
[Verse 2]
You left a Genmaicha tea stain on my lid last week
Inside, I still smell Astoria, the salt upon the creek
I hold the MAX pass from your mother, dated '03
She once said, "He sands the edges so the pain feels free."
[Chorus]
And the sawdust settled years ago
So I've decided just to glow
[Bridge]
My joints were planed for splitting, a perfect, clean-run tear
But I'm still holding every splinter of the quiet you put in here
[Chorus]
Yeah, the sawdust settled years ago
And I've decided just to glow
[Outro]
Anyway... just thought you should know.
(Call ends)
