Influenced by D'Angelo, Bill Withers, Roy Ayers, The Meters, Erykah Badu. Quincy Flood grew up in Cairo, Illinois, a forgotten town where two great rivers meet. At 20, he packed his drum kit and drove west, trading the Mississippi's humid melancholy for the sun-bleached asphalt of Los Angeles. His music is the sound of that drive: deep-pocket funk grooves powered by a drummer's soul, with a falsetto that tells stories to his new California lover about a home she's never seen. These are songs about looking back from the fast lane, steeped in the heat lightning and cicada drone of a Midwestern summer.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
That sun-faded Tupperware, the color of a '78 sedan.
We all got the one with the scorch mark from a potluck pan.
The lid still pops with that low, hollow sigh,
a barometric pressure drop from a long-gone sky.

[Chorus]
Oh, the forever seal.
Making yesterday feel real.

[Verse 2]
Smell of potluck macaroni, a ghost in the polypropylene.
"Don't you lose that lid," Mama said, July of '99.
We took 'em with us, packed with things they'd never seen,
From a Cairo kitchen to a West Coast quarantine.

[Chorus]
Oh, the forever seal.
Making yesterday feel real.

[Bridge]
It holds the pressure of a summer storm we drove away from.
And the unspoken rule of just coming back for some.

[Chorus]
Oh, the forever seal!
Making yesterday feel real!

[Outro]
Just the sound of the click.
Then the silence after it.
