Influenced by Bruce Springsteen, The War on Drugs, The 1975, Peter Gabriel. Rory Zima’s parents fled Sarajevo in the 90s and settled in Paterson, NJ, never speaking of the war they escaped. He found his own language in their unspoken history, saving up from a dishwashing job to buy a vintage Juno-106 synthesizer. Now 29 and living in a converted Jersey City garage, his anthemic, synth-soaked rock songs are dispatches from the NJ Turnpike, trying to outrun a past that isn't even his.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
He holds the iPhone X like it's a piece of live wire
The glass is cold against his palm at three-fifteen
A whole museum of a year set on fire
And waits for the last message on the screen

[Chorus]
Swipe. Delete. The memory flickers out
A little trash can icon full of digital doubt
He tells himself that this is letting go
But holds onto the last pixel's fading glow

[Verse 2]
There’s the video from the pier that Tuesday in July
Her laugh is tinny, "God, don't point that thing at me"
He can still feel the damp air off the Passaic roll by
The last good day before the sympathy

[Chorus]
Swipe. Delete. The memory flickers out
A little trash can icon full of digital doubt
He tells himself that this is letting go
But holds onto the last pixel's fading glow

[Bridge]
And for a second, his finger just hangs in the air
Over seven digits of a disconnected prayer
It's just a number now, a ghost inside the code
The last piece of rust that's eating up the road

[Chorus]
(Key change up)
Swipe. Delete. The memory flickers out
The little trash can icon clears away the doubt
He tells himself that this is letting go
And finally lets the last pixel's fading glow... just go

[Outro]
The 4:02 to Secaucus rattles the glass
The screen is black. The last train has passed.
