Influenced by Phoebe Bridgers, Nick Drake, Elliott Smith, Adrianne Lenker. Selah Jubilee’s songs are postcards from a life derailed and painstakingly rebuilt. At nineteen, a nonviolent drug charge sent her to a state correctional institution for eighteen months, where she filled notebooks with the lyrics that would become her first songs. Now living in Pittsburgh, she pays her rent working as a prep cook, writing unflinching music about the long shadow of a criminal record and the quiet grace found in starting over. Her sound is the sound of the Rust Belt: worn-in, wary, and relentlessly hopeful.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]
The Westinghouse logo is buzzing on Monitor Three.
You say that’s the third time this week for the gray Hyundai.
Her face is buried in her hands, his hands are on the wheel,
Painting condensation breath on thirty-gauge steel.

[Chorus]
We watch the rebar start to show.
And your voice gets quiet, soft and low.
You trace the flicker on the screen,
Another life we’ve never been.

[Verse 2]
The key-card reader hums a low, insistent E-flat.
You’re sketching out a truss bridge on a coffee-stained placemat.
“Think they’ll make it?” I ask, the quiet's getting loud.
You just shrug, “We’re not paid enough to figure people out.”

[Bridge]
(Rhythmic breakdown: vocal and sparse percussion only)
One hand on the console.
One hand turning cold.
Check the gate. Check the lock.
Same story gets old.

[Outro]
The Hyundai’s gone, past the Monongahela incline.
You trace a scar across my hand and don't ask if I'm fine.
