Lyrics
The A16 hums under the Bridgestone tires,
November, '17, just running the wires.
You traced the schematics I drew on the glass,
The frost made a blueprint that wasn't built to last.
[Chorus]
We were cantilever,
A beautiful strain.
We were cantilever,
Just holding for rain.
[Verse 2]
Your coat smelled of solder and cheap Van Nelle shag,
"It's just scaffolding, Joris. It's not built to drag."
We measured the distance in units of breath,
A slow, tensile silence, a life and a death.
[Chorus]
We were cantilever,
A beautiful strain.
We were cantilever,
Just holding for rain.
[Bridge]
Now the new interchange has erased the old ramp,
The halogen's gone, just a sodium lamp.
[Chorus]
We were cantilever,
A beautiful strain.
We were cantilever,
Just holding for rain.
[Outro]
Cantilever...
A beautiful strain...
