So how do we say goodbye to a legend like Kay
And give a fitting farewell on her final day
MacDonald here suggested a song
But I’ve said no chance so we’ve written you a poem

And I need you to know that we’ve not chat gpt’d it
It’s just our intelligence so it might be a bit shit
The rhyming at times applies some artistic liberties
But it’s an honest attempt from him and from me

For over 20 years Ms Lindsay’s drawn in the shire
Teaching Art to Banksy - sorry, Bankies! then the Dinky and the Myre
Now on this lovely dull and rainy August day
We’re gathered here this morning so we can say goodbye to Kay

Now we know that she’s got a bark much worse than her bite
And that withering look that says ‘you’re talking shite’
Sometimes with our Kay a tough exterior you’ll find
But beneath it lies a heart that’s oh so very kind

“Look Claire, at how well we’ve done”
We don’t have Nat 4s here in Art
Don’t you know we’re better than that?!
And let’s give praise where praise is due
The attainment was always fair and true

Many hours invested for each child to wrangle
With the intricacies of, a Peter Chang bangle!
Expressive Arts is her passion and domain
Although at times, with very little shame

To S.L.T offices she would head around
And share her logic which she claimed was sound
My favourite one, if I can share this fable,
Is Kay’s “advice” for me when writing the timetable
“It has to work this way you see
You’ll make it work if you just listen to me.
Now write this down and pay attention…
Then we’re two weeks in and she’s taking her pension

But with her latest request I needed a beta-blocker
When she said I should timetable around her dog walker!
And the other crucial timetable need I never could let slip
Was respecting the essential “symbiotic relationship”

This thing that I was told was key for the function of the Art machine
But Kay I’ve really gotta admit I’ve never known what the hell that means!
Now when Kay would retire has always been a mystery

It’s the longest phased retirement known in our history
And no one’s actually sure she’s truly going to rest
But we know that whatever’s next she’ll still give it her best

First up, a trip to Africa as she’s off to see Morocco
I’m sure it will be fabulous with markets chock-a-block–o

Then daytime drinks and Pilates classes, the possibilities are immense
Or perhaps even a return on supply…I’m sure she’ll keep us in suspense!
The future beckons with opportunities galore
And a whole new neighbourhood to explore

She’s ditched the shire for a gaff up the toon
But I hear that we’re all welcome roon?
Retirement beckons and we wish for you good health,
Peace and love and happiness and away and spend your wealth

Enjoy retirement, embrace the peace and find your harmony
As you get to spend more time with your precious family
