Brand new man

[Verse 1]
I knew the man who fought those battles
I saw the darkness in his eyes
I watched him wrestle with his demons
And carry wounds he tried to hide
There were nights I wondered where the road would lead
But Jesus never let him go
Even when Jonah couldn’t see Him
God was calling His son home

[Verse 2]
And I watched grace reach through the darkness
I watched mercy take his hand
What the enemy tried to destroy
God rebuilt into a man

[Chorus]
Now he’s washed in the blood of the Lamb
He’s standing on the Rock, not sinking in the sand
Those chains that held him don’t hold him anymore
Jesus walked into his heart and opened every door
The man he was has been laid down
A child of God is standing now
I look at Jonah and I understand
Only Jesus could make a brand new man

[Verse 3]
Then came that Emmaus weekend
When he went away to seek the Lord
I prayed that God would speak into him
Like he’d never heard before
And when Jonah walked back through that doorway
Something in his eyes had changed
He looked like peace had finally found him
Like Jesus had called him by his name

[Verse 4]
He left some things there at the altar
That he didn’t bring back home
Because when a man encounters Jesus
He never has to walk alone

[Verse 5]
And seeing Jesus move through Jonah
Has set a fire inside my soul
Watching him become a man of God
Makes me want to know You more
He makes me want to be a better woman
To walk closer by Your side
Because I see the love of Jesus
Shining through my husband’s life

[Verse 6]
I’ve seen him broken
I’ve seen him fall
I’ve seen the Lord reach through it all
I’ve seen the darkness lose its claim
When Jonah called on Jesus’ name

[Verse 7]
No past too dark
No road too long
No sin too deep for Calvary’s love
The blood still washes
Grace still stands
And Jesus still makes brand new men

[Verse 8]
So when I see my husband praying
When I hear him speak of God
When I see the faith inside him
I know how far we’ve walked
And I don’t worship the man beside me
I worship the One who set him free
Because every change I see in Jonah
Is living proof of Calvary

[Verse 9]
He’s been washed in the blood of the Lamb
Now he’s walking with Jesus, becoming God’s man
The chains are broken, the old life is gone
The man that I love has been made new in God
He’s my husband, but first he’s His
And there’s nothing more beautiful than this
I look at Jonah with tears in my eyes
And thank You, Jesus, for changing his life

[Verse 10]
He’s not who he was
He’s who You’ve called him to be
A husband of faith
A man walking free
And I’ll stand beside him, wherever You lead
With Christ in our home and Your Word at our feet

[Verse 11]
Jonah, when I look at you
I see what my Savior can do
The old has gone
The new has begun
Washed by the blood
Redeemed by the Son

[Verse 12]
And I’ll spend my life thanking Jesus
For the work that His hands have done
Because the man I love came home to God…

[Verse 13]
And God gave me
a brand new man.
