Alejandro My Champion

[Verse 1]
February thirteenth, you brought the morning sun
A football in your tiny hands before you learned to run
Eight years running wild in that crisp all-white shirt
Screaming for Real Madrid like nothing else could hurt
I don't always know what's behind your quiet tears
Or the heavy little worries of your tender years

[Chorus]
Alejandro, my champion, you hold my whole heart
Whether you win the final or fall at the start
When the world gets too big, reach out for my hand
I will never let go, even if I don't understand

[Verse 2]
Sliding on the hallway floor dreaming up the goal
Living out a championship inside your little soul
Sometimes fears creep in and I search for words to say
When I can't fix the shadows, I will sit with you and pray
I’ll stay right by your side till the morning comes around
With your worn leather ball resting safely on the ground

[Bridge]
One day you’ll outgrow my hand and walk your own path through
Playing different fields and chasing skies of blue
You can be the striker or whatever you decide
I will always be your dad standing on the side

[Chorus]
Alejandro, my champion, you hold my whole heart
Whether you win the final or fall at the start
When the world gets too big, reach out for my hand
I will never let go, even if I don't understand

[Outro]
No matter where you run, no matter what you do
Look over your shoulder, dad is right behind you
