twelfth night big balls

Verse 1
A shipwreck on the shore,
Viola doesn’t know what’s in store.
Her brother’s gone, she fears he’s dead,
A thousand thoughts run through her head.

She hears of Count Orsino’s love,
For Olivia, like stars above.
But Olivia says, “No love for me,”
She’s mourning, and she wants to be free.

Chorus
Oh, what a strange night,
Nothing is going right!
Love is flying everywhere,
But nobody’s love is fair.
Disguises, secrets, hearts collide,
Everyone has something they hide.
Oh, what a strange night—
Welcome to Illyria tonight!

Verse 2
Viola says, “I’ll hide my name,
As a young man, I’ll join the game.”
“Cesario” is the name she takes,
And soon a complicated journey she makes.

She works for Orsino, loyal and true,
And hears what love is making him do.
He sends Cesario to Olivia’s door,
To tell her how he loves her more.

Chorus
Oh, what a strange night,
Nothing is going right!
Orsino loves Olivia,
But Olivia won’t love him back.
Viola loves Orsino,
But she cannot tell him so,
And now Olivia starts to fall—
For Cesario, after all!

Bridge
Three hearts beating,
Three hearts confused,
One is disguised,
And two are used
To thinking love is easy to see—
But nothing is what it seems to be!

Verse 3
Cesario speaks with Olivia,
Trying to make Orsino’s case.
But Olivia listens differently,
A new feeling shows upon her face.

She falls for Cesario,
Though Cesario isn’t who they seem.
Viola’s secret starts a storm,
And love becomes a tangled dream.

Final Chorus
Oh, what a strange night,
Everything’s out of sight!
Viola hides behind a name,
While love keeps changing up the game.
Orsino loves Olivia,
Olivia loves Cesario,
And Viola loves Orsino too—
So what are they supposed to do?

Outro
A shipwreck, a disguise,
And love in everyone’s eyes.
Act One sets the story right—
And it’s only the beginning
Of this strange, strange night!
