Akari Yamano was raised in Yokohama's Naka Ward, the daughter of an architect and a librarian. She started a degree in Urban Planning to please her family before dropping it all for a vintage Korg synthesizer she found in her university's music club. Her songs, written in a small apartment she shares with an enormous houseplant named Kusa-san, are blueprints of a city built from jazz-piano, 8-bit beats, and the secret lives of inanimate objects. She still carries the student loan debt from the degree she never finished.
